Faculty - Prof. Vivek Shanbhag

Dr. Shanbhag is currently the Director of the Ayurvedic Academy, which offers Master’s and Certificate courses in Ayurveda. He has an MD from India, with specialization in Ayurvedic Medicine and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, Seattle, WA. He has 15 years of Ayurveda and Naturopathy clinical training. He is the Medical Director of the AYU Natural Medicine Clinic. He worked as the Chairman of the Ayurvedic Medicine Department at Bastyr University during 1991-96. He was the Head of the Institute of Research in Ayurvedic Medicine, India during 1985-88. He was awarded the prestigious IIM Gold Medal for his MD (Ayurved) research thesis in 1988. Dr. Shanbhag integrates Ayurvedic and Naturopathic medicine in his clinical practice (1992-present) and is the Medical Director of a six-practitioner team at AYU Natural Medicine Clinic. He is a Member, Board of Directors, National Ayurvedic Medical Association and Editorial Board, Light on Ayurveda Journal. He has authored a book titled: Beginner’s Introduction to Ayurveda.
