Dr. Orton is a writer and scholar with a PhD in Sri Aurobindo’s Philosophy. She is the author of several books and numerous journal articles on the Integral Yoga. Dr. Orton serves on the faculty of the Sri Aurobindo Centre for Advanced Research and Hindu University of America. She has lived in both the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville. Philosophy and metaphysics are the focus of Dr. Orton’s scholarship and teaching. Her most significant books are: The Quest for Knowledge and Mastery: A Comparative Study of Motivation in the Light of Sri Aurobindo, which emphasizes Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of the evolution of consciousness, and Oneness which focuses on Sri Aurobindo’s conceptualization of Brahman as the one reality and the implications which proceed from this. Dr. Orton holds an M.A. in Semitic Languages, M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work, and B.A. In Classical Languages. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
