Course Description:
In this course students will continue growing their knowledge of Bhagavad Geeta gained from the prior courses SAN1011 to SAN1042, to improve their grasp of Sanskrit Language structures, aptly illustrated through Shlokas of the Bhagavad Geeta from Chapter 16 and 17. Students will enhance their Sanskrit writing and speaking abilities. Using special handouts, each verse of the Bhagavad Geeta will be expounded to unravel the inner meaning of the verse as well as grammatical structures of the language.
Course Content:
This course is the 15th in a 16-course sequence which constitutes the Certificate Program in Bhagavad Geeta through Samskritam. In this course, the Faculty will lead the students verse by verse, in sequence through the Bhagavad Geeta, while simultaneously unfolding both the meanings of the verses in Chapter 16 and 17 as well as the nuances of the language.
This course will also introduce students to the following elements of the Sanskrit language: detailed analysis of shlokas, research into their constituent elements, elucidation of meanings and structures, all entirely in Sanskrit – with instructor guided methods, using the original Sanskrit language sentences and formations found in the Bhagavad Geeta.
Learning Objectives:
In this course, students will undertake detailed study of Bhagavad Geeta in the following areas:
- Conduct full deconstructive analysis of any verse from the source text.
- Able to research and detail in Sanskrit, underlying sentence structures and meaning.
- Query and explain in Sanskrit, different poetic styles found in BG.
- Expound intrinsic and subtle meanings of shlokas, fully in Sanskrit language.
- Research grammatical aspects of Bhagavad Geeta chapters 16 & 17.
