Faculty – Community Education (Civilizational Studies)
Dr. D.K. Hema Hari is a faculty member in the Civilizational Studies program at Hindu University of America’s Community Education Division, where she co-leads the Certificate in Civilizational Studies Program with her husband, Dr. D.K. Hari. She brings over two decades of deep research experience on Indian civilization, shaped through their joint initiative, Bharath Gyan, which they launched in 2000 to present an integrated Indic narrative of India from an Indian perspective. Their work spans 40 books in multiple languages, 300 short films, 5 documentaries, 60 mini-books, and over 250 multimedia presentations delivered worldwide, including at international conferences, academic institutions, TED Talks, corporate forums, and cultural events.
Her expertise is grounded in a strong academic foundation—double degrees in Physics and Computer Technology from Bombay University—and a 20-year career in Information Technology, including senior management roles at Tata Consultancy Services and CSC India. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) for 12 years, she specialized in managing innovation and emerging technologies, with professional engagements across several countries that broadened her global perspective.
Originally from Mysore and raised in Bombay, Dr. Hema Hari’s intellectual pursuits are matched by her artistic ones—she is trained in Carnatic vocal music and enjoys fine arts. Her contributions to Civilizational Studies have earned her a Ph.D. from Sri Sri University (2019) and honors including the Shri. B.R. Haran Memorial Award and the Visalakshi Award from the Art of Living Foundation.
