Introduction to Research Methods

HSF7002 - (DHS/PHD) The course aims to familiarize students with the basic principles and methods used for research. It will help students probe into the very nature of research, for example how to formulate a research question, how to review literature and develop hypotheses, and how to gather, organize and analyze data. It will introduce students to qualitative and quantitative methods including content analysis, interviews, field studies, and data interpretation. It will also familiarize students with ethical dimensions of research, particularly while researching human subjects, and how institutional review can help in this process. The students, by the end of the course, will be able to identify their own research projects and explore methods suitable for their research and share their findings with the academic community.
