Dr. Shashi Tiwari holds a Ph.D. in Sanskrit from the University of Lucknow (1968) and is a distinguished Vedic and Sanskrit scholar with decades of academic leadership, research, and doctoral mentorship. She has served as a Visiting Professor at the Hindu University of America since 2002, guiding numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars in advanced Vedic and Sanskrit studies.
Dr. Tiwari is the General Secretary and President of the Wider Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES), an academic society dedicated to Vedic scholarship since 1996. Under her leadership, WAVES has organized twenty-two national conferences with international participation across India. She has also presented research at over thirty international conferences in the United States, Italy, Canada, Nepal, and South Korea.
A prolific scholar, she has authored thirty-two books in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English, including Rigvediya Aprisukta (1981), Sanskrit Sahitya Ka Itihas (1999), and Veda-Vyakhya-Paddhatayah (2014). Her contributions to Sanskrit scholarship have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Bharati Mishra Award, the Maharshi Vyas Samman, and the prestigious Rashtrapati Samman (Certificate of Honor from the President of India, 2015) for outstanding service to Sanskrit.
Through her scholarship, institutional leadership, and sustained mentorship, Dr. Tiwari continues to shape the field of Vedic studies with authority and distinction.
