At Hindu University of America, advancement is not merely about fundraising. It is about carrying forward a responsibility that is much larger than any one of us. It is about building the relationships, trust, resources, and shared commitment necessary to sustain a university dedicated to Hindu knowledge traditions, not as relics of the past, but as living wisdom for the present and future.
As we enter this new year, our theme is Sankalpa.
Sankalpa is more than intention. It is sacred resolve. It is the moment when concern becomes commitment, when gratitude becomes action, and when love for Dharma becomes the will to protect, nourish, and transmit it.
For HUA, Sankalpa means strengthening the foundations of an institution that serves Sanātana Dharma through rigorous scholarship, transformative education, and community engagement. It means recognizing that if we want future generations to inherit Hindu wisdom with clarity, confidence, and pride, we must build the institutions that make such inheritance possible.
Over the past year, I have witnessed the power of this shared resolve across the country. In Saṃvāda gatherings, donor conversations, chapter meetings, workshops, and community events, I have seen students speak with conviction, donors give with devotion, volunteers serve with humility, and families ask a question that sits at the heart of HUA’s mission: What will we leave behind for the next generation?
That question must move us. Because HUA’s work is not only academic. It is deeply civilizational. Every course we offer, every student we support, every scholar we empower, every program we build, and every community we engage is part of a larger effort to ensure that Hindu knowledge traditions remain accessible, respected, studied, and lived.
This year, our Sankalpa is to deepen that momentum. We are committed to expanding our donor community, strengthening Friends of HUA chapters, engaging alumni and students more meaningfully, and building long-term philanthropic support for HUA’s academic programs, faculty, research, scholarships, and institutional growth.
Every gift to HUA is more than a contribution. It is an act of stewardship. It is a way of saying that Hindu wisdom matters. That our children deserve more than cultural memory without understanding. That Dharma deserves institutions equal to its depth, beauty, and power.
