Dr. Aseem Shukla

Dr. Aseem R. Shukla, MD – University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, is the Endowed Chair and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Professor of Surgery (in Urology) at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Shukla completed his residency in general surgery and urology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and his fellowship in pediatric urology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Prior to returning to the Division of Urology in 2012, Dr. Shukla served as Director of urology at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital and held associate professorships in urology and pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, Dr. Shukla served as the Residency Program Director of the University of Minnesota Department of Urology. His clinical and research interests include robot-assisted laparoscopy and the bladder exstrophy-epispadias complex, and also spans hypospadias, urinary reflux, hydronephrosis and complex urinary tract reconstruction.

Dr. Aseem Shukla is active in developing pediatric urology as a discipline globally. He routinely lectures and participates in surgical workshops and conferences throughout Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. He provides consultation and strategic input in developing opportunities for partnerships and collaborations that serve to increase access to pediatric healthcare services in South Asia and the Gulf Region.

Dr. Aseem Shukla was a Co-founder of the Hindu American Foundation in 2003 and serves as a member of their National Leadership Council. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Hindu University of America and chairs the Board’s Strategic Affairs Committee.
