Science Meets Vedanta

HSF2203 – This course explores the relationship between modern science and Vedanta as complementary approaches to understanding reality. While science investigates the external universe through empirical observation and experimentation, Vedanta examines the nature of Awareness and existence through systematic self-inquiry, as presented in the Upanishads and related texts. The course critically examines points of dialogue between these perspectives, with particular attention to concepts in modern physics, including Einstein's Theory of Relativity and quantum mechanics. Through interdisciplinary study, students will evaluate relationship between scientific and Vedantic thought, gaining a deeper appreciation of how these distinct traditions contribute to contemporary discussions on reality, Awareness, and the nature of the universe.
