About the Free Webinar:
Hindu philosophy offers one of the most diverse and intellectually rich traditions in the world-rooted not in a single viewpoint, but in a vibrant ecosystem of inquiry, debate, and discovery. In this webinar, we explore the profound landscape of the Shaddarshanas, the classical systems of Hindu philosophy, alongside the heterodox traditions that challenge and complement them.
Led by esteemed HUA faculty, this session will introduce participants to the six orthodox (Āstika) Darshanas—Nyāya, Vaiśeṣika, Sāṃkhya, Yoga, Mīmāṃsā, and Vedānta-as well as the heterodox (Nāstika) schools such as Buddhism, Jainism, and Cārvāka. Together, these traditions examine fundamental questions about reality, knowledge, self, causation, and liberation.
Beyond a survey of ideas, this webinar highlights how these philosophical systems engage in rigorous dialogue while sharing a common goal: overcoming human suffering and attaining ultimate freedom—whether understood as Moksha, Nirvana, or Kaivalya.
Participants will also get a preview of HUA’s course, Shaddarshanas – Introduction to Hindu Philosophy, and discover how it offers a deeper, structured exploration of these traditions through textual study, reflection, and discussion.
Whether you are new to Hindu philosphy or seeking to deepen your understanding, this webinar offers a compelling entry point into one of humanity’s oldest and most sophisticated philosophical traditions.
