In this course the students will be able to:
In this quarter, the students will focus on studying the first four vibhakti (declensions of nouns) in halanta-striliṅga (feminine bases ending in consonant sounds). Furthermore, they will learn the basics of anunāsika and anusvāra sandhis. The students get an introduction to laukika nyāyāḥ (maxims and analogies), and gain a deeper understanding of them using short stories. The students will study the cardinal and ordinal numbers in all three genders. In this quarter they will learn the use of upasargāḥ (prefixes to verbs), which can either enhance the meanings of the verbs or result in the opposite meaning. Finally, they will be instructed on how to prepare formal invitations in Saṃskṛtam.
Students will have a dedicated 1.5 hours of contact time with the faculty each week. The class is carefully structured to facilitate effective learning in an online face-to-face format. The curriculum is designed to build upon the knowledge gained in previous classes. Regular homework assignments will provide valuable opportunities to practice the concepts covered in class. Successful completion of the course requires the submission of graded homework and the final Quarter End Exam (QEE)
