Vyakarana – IV Course content:
The course introduces the tradition of the philosophy of Vyākaraṇa while providing comparisons with other schools of Indian thought. It also provides an overview of Vākyapadīya along with a selection of sections pertaining to the central themes of the philosophy of Vyākaraṇa.
In this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the philosophy of language that provided the concept of apoddhāra (dissection and abstraction) based on which Pāṇini formulated his Aṣṭādhyāyī.
- Understand the engagement with language and grammar as a spiritual process.
