Course Content

In this course, the students will be guided gently through the basics of Saṃskṛtam grammar. While enhancing their vocabulary, the students are also able to identify the genders of the nouns. The students learn the use of pronouns and are able to use them in forming simple sentences in singular and plural. They learn to recite short prayers and explore the meanings of the verses. They will learn basic vocabulary and etiquette words and use them in greetings and introductions. They also explore the use of possessive nouns and pronouns and apply them in sentence construction. Throughout the quarter, the students continue to expand their vocabulary using materials designed to assist the students in practicing these skills.

Class Structure

Students will have a dedicated 1.5 hours of contact time with the faculty each week. The class is carefully structured to facilitate effective learning in an online face-to-face format. The curriculum is designed to build upon the knowledge gained in previous classes. Regular homework assignments will provide valuable opportunities to practice the concepts covered in class. Successful completion of the course requires the submission of graded homework and the final Quarter End Exam (QEE).
