About the Webinar:
Join us for a special webinar marking 150 years of Vande Mataram, the timeless hymn that became the spiritual heartbeat of India’s freedom movement. In this reflective session, Dr. Debidatta Aurobinda Mahapatra will explore the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram and its deep connection to the evolution of Indian nationalism. More than a song, Vande Mataram emerged as a sacred invocation, uniting generations in a shared sense of identity, purpose, and devotion to the Motherland.
Through the writings of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and the interpretations of Sri Aurobindo, we will trace how Vande Mataram became both a literary masterpiece and a profound philosophical statement. Bankim’s vision of the Mother as both divine and national found its resonance in Sri Aurobindo’s integral interpretation, where the call to awaken the nation was inseparable from the call to awaken the spirit. This exploration will illuminate how poetry, politics, and spirituality converged in the making of modern India.
As we commemorate 150 years of this iconic work, the webinar invites participants to revisit its relevance in the present day — as a reminder of the power of cultural unity, spiritual nationalism, and the ongoing quest to harmonize material progress with inner awakening. Come and join us for an insightful conversation that honors the creative genius of Bankim Chandra, the visionary thought of Sri Aurobindo, and the immortal message of Vande Mataram.
