Dr. Kalpalatha (Kay) Guntupalli is an endowed Professor in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After obtaining a medical degree from Osmania medical college in Hyderabad, she immigrated to the USA specializing in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, and critical care medicine. She served on the faculty at Pittsburgh and Emory universities. She held/holds many leadership positions in organized medicine. In 1999, she served as the first woman President of the 50,000 strong American Association of Physicians of Indian origin. In 2010, she served as the President of the 20,000 strong American College of Chest Physicians. She was a member of the Critical Care board of the American board of Internal Medicine for 6 years. Her research interests are acute respiratory distress syndrome and medical education. and is the recipient of several grants. She has over 150 scientific publications.
She has helped start a hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad India and a school of respiratory therapy. She visits India 2-3 times a year, volunteering to teach and do patient care in Hyderabad and Puttaparthi, and Bengaluru. She developed many patient and physician educational materials including anti tobacco products in 7 Indian languages and ICU related educational materials.
During the recent COVID pandemic, Houston was hit by a large surge of cases Dr. Gunutpalli led the fight from the front; being in charge of planning for the surge and executing the plans. For her many hours of dedicated leadership, she received the “COVID hero gold pin” from the doctors in the hospital. Born in Mumbai India, migrated to USA in 1974, became Naturalized US Citizen in 1981. He had a brilliant academic career, standing First in Science/Math subjects in Gujarat State SSC exam, 1964. At MS University, Baroda; he stood First in PreMedical, 1st,2nd Final MBBS, as well as MD Medicine with Gold Medals in all the subjects. After coming to USA, he obtained MD in Medicine (Uni of Illinois), MD in Medical Oncology (Northwestern Uni Med School), MD in Hematology (Rush Uni Medical School).He is currently Medical Director of the Cancer Institute, Methodist Hospitals, Clin Asst Prof of Medicine at Indiana University Medical School, Secretary and former President of the Medical Licensing Board of the State of Indiana (since year 2000). He has been the President of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Methodist Hospitals. He also serves on the advisory board of the Indiana University School of Business. He also serves on the Medical Advisory Panels for US Senators and Congressmen.
Public service is the 2nd hobby of Dr Barai. He has received numerous community service awards in last 30 years for his voluntary services to the local communities. After coming to USA, he has taken keen interest in improving sanitation facilities in India. In last 15 years, working with National Sanitation Improvement foundation of India and IDF, he has donated large sums to build Sanitation facilities at public places and for people who are poor, homeless, living in Ghettos. He has worked with Ekal Vidyalaya, the largest NGO in India to provide basic education and healthcare to Tribal children in remote villages. In last 10 years, Barai family has sponsored over 50 Schools in Tribal villages. Dr Barai has been very active in promoting India US relations. He has worked with several Indian Ambassadors, Indian Consul Generals in Chicago and elected US Officials towards this goal. He has co hosted many Indian leaders when they visit Chicago and has accompanied some US elected officials when they visit India. He was part of the NRI delegation that accompanied President Clinton during his State visit to India.
In 2008, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave a special commendation to Dr Barai for his efforts with US Congress for successful conclusion of Indo-US civil Nuclear Treaty.

Sree N. Sreenath, Ph.D., MBA (Nonprofit), is a tenured full professor in the Electrical, Computer & Systems Engineering Department at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.
He has served as the Director of Case GEMNI (Graduate Engineering & Management National and International) Program. His research and educational interests are in complexity, with applications in Systems Biology (leukemia, prostate cancer and hydrocephalus), Global Issues, and, Sustainable Development. He served the Co-Director of UNESCO GENIe Program – an international network of educational institutions (1996-2006), and as the Director of the Complex Systems Biology Center (2007-2016) at Case. He consults with many developing countries on issues of water, energy, and policy.

Sreenath is the Founder President of the new Vivekananda Yoga University (VaYU), Los Angeles, CA, the World’s first Yoga University outside of India focusing on Graduate Education and Research. Sreenath and his team guided the onerous seven-year nonprofit registration and California state licensing process for VaYU. Holistic, traditional, evidence-based Yoga grounded on scientific principles is the highlight of VaYU programs Beginning Fall 2020, VaYU offers its debut Online MS (Yoga)– a 4-semester (21 month), low residency program.
Outside of higher education, Sreenath is active in the social service field. He was the President of Sewa International (www.sewausa.org), a Hindu faith-based charitable nonprofit working in the areas of disaster recovery, education, and, development. During his tenure 2009 to 2020, Sewa was able to increase the revenue 25 times to $8.3 million in 2019. Sewa proved that (i) an untested brand such as “Hindu faith-based nonprofit’ can thrive; (ii) the entire middle and upper management from Directors, VPs; Executive-VP and President can be geographically distributed dedicated volunteers spread across the US; (iii) a national nonprofit need not need to have a headquarters. In addition, his team developed a number of effective development projects such as: ‘Sponsor a Child,’ ASPIRE, LEAD, and ‘Toilet for the Girl Child;’ extended Sewa projects to Bangladesh, the Caribbean (Trinidad & Tobago, Bahamas, and Guyana), Columbia, Iraq, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka; and, strengthened all business systems, putting in functional and financial controls.
