This Introduction to Ayurveda course is designed for individuals seeking to deepen their personal understanding of holistic health and support the well-being of themselves, their friends, and families. Participants will explore the foundational principles of Ayurveda, including the philosophy of balance in body, mind, and spirit, and learn how to identify their unique mind-body constitution and potential imbalances. The course delves into the role of Ayurvedic nutrition, focusing on the six tastes (Rasas), creating balanced meal plans tailored to individual needs, and understanding food combinations to promote digestive health. Participants will also gain knowledge of commonly used Ayurvedic herbs, their healing properties, and simple home remedies for everyday health concerns. Practical techniques, such as pulse and tongue assessment, are introduced to help participants recognize signs of imbalance. Emphasis is placed on developing daily and seasonal routines to maintain overall wellness. Additionally, participants will practice mind-body techniques like yoga, meditation, and pranayama to cultivate inner peace and emotional balance. Sensory therapies, such as the use of aroma, touch, color, and music, are explored to promote holistic healing. This course empowers individuals with practical tools to enhance health and vitality naturally.
There will be a minimum of 1.5 contact hour with the faculty every week. The curriculum will include reading, reflection, observation, and interactive practices. The class time will include 30 minutes that will provide an opportunity for Q&A and group discussion.
